New DASSY® shoes: made to fit your feet

DASSY® recently celebrated its sixteenth anniversary with a completely new look and new collections! The perfect time to give our safety shoes a makeover. Especially in light of the new standard in effect since March 2023. Dive into our blog to discover the upgrades introduced by DASSY® to provide even better protection for your feet from now on based on the updated standard.

Before we really get started, let us briefly explain the difference between the basic safety requirements and the optional requirements. The basic requirements must be met to obtain a certificate for your safety shoes. The optional requirements may be considered ‘extras’ to offer even better protection for a shoe in certain working conditions. Find out more below!

What does the updated standard entail?

Since March 2023, there is a new standard for safety shoes: EN ISO 20345:2022. This essentially replaces the previous EN ISO 20345:2011 standard.

What changes for DASSY® shoes?

Slip resistance on soapy ceramic floors, previously designated with the SRA marking, is now a basic requirement for all safety footwear. This means that there will not be any extra marking for this requirement. An additional slip resistance test on a ceramic floor with glycerin (an oily solution) may be carried out as an optional requirement and will be indicated with an SR marking. All DASSY® shoes have successfully passed both tests. This means that we have achieved the highest level of slip resistance!

• In addition, the requirements and test methods for the optional perforation resistance requirement have been updated. The marking of the old standard used only the letter P. From now on, the letter P will only be used to designate shoes with metal midsoles. Non-metallic midsoles will now be identified by a PL or L, PS or S marking, depending on the type of nail used for the test.

- PL or L = passed the perforation test with a 4.5 mm nail.
- PS or S = passed the perforation test with a 3 mm nail.

• There are two new categories of protection levels for indicating safety shoes that have been made fully waterproof by using a membrane.
- S6 = S2 + WR
- S7 = S3 + WR

• Shoes with a water-resistant upper will be designated as WPA instead of WRU under the updated standard. The WPA marking refers to the water penetration and absorption tests conducted to determine the water resistance of the upper material. The designation WR refers to the water resistance of the entire shoe.

Fuel and oil resistance (FO) is no longer a basic requirement.

• Finally, there is a new optional requirement, i.e. the scuff cap, denoted as SC. What is a scuff cap? A scuff cap is an extra tough protective layer on top of the shoe. This prevents rapid wear of the shoe in that area. With a scuff cap injected with polyurethane, all our new safety shoes DASSY® Anubis, Amon and Seth meet this optional requirement.

Meet Anubis, Amon and Seth!

This Egyptian family of three replaces the Greek Zeus, Hermes and Thanos.
Anubis and Amon are S3S safety shoes. Seth is an S7S safety shoe.

Do you work in the construction sector? In that case, these shoes are your ideal partner. Added bonus: we have also improved the level of comfort and the fit with an anatomically shaped footbed.

• Anubis is a low-cut S3S safety shoe. A great replacement for the Zeus which was an S3 shoe.
• Amon is a mid-cut S3S safety shoe. The perfect replacement for the Hermes.
• Seth is a high-cut S7S safety shoe. This is the new Thanos. Seth is completely waterproof!

Jupiter and Neptunus become Horus

Horus is a low-cut S3S safety shoe. So how is it different from Anubis? Horus does not have a scuff cap. Otherwise, it meets the same requirements. It is a shoe ideal for professionals working indoors. This model also offers increased comfort thanks to an anatomically shaped footbed.

As a painter or plasterer, were you a fan of the white Neptunus? Not to worry! Horus is available not just in black but also in white.

Moreover, Horus is available starting at size 36. This also makes it an excellent choice for women looking for a versatile safety shoe. Would you like to know more about Horus? Wait no more, take a look at the product description of Horus

Safety sandal Achilles

Our well-known safety sandal Achilles remains in our range but has been updated to meet the updated standard. It also successfully meets three optional safety requirements.

1. Slip resistance on a ceramic tile with glycerin: the highest degree of slip resistance!
2. Perforation resistance with a 4.5 mm nail
3. Oil and fuel resistance

We say goodbye to Sparta and Corus

The S3 shoes Sparta and Corus will soon be discontinued. Were these your favourite shoes? Then it’s best to place an order quickly, one last time. After that, choose Nox, which is also an S3 safety shoe or opt for the brand-new Horus. What are the benefits offered by Horus? This pair of shoes offers more protection, is available in two colours and starts at size 36.

Did you know ...

• That all DASSY® shoes have a Composhank? It is not visible to the naked eye but integrated into the shoe sole. What does the Composhank do? The Composhank feature increases the stability of the shoe at the heel and ball of your foot. This is important because your body weight rests primarily on your heel.

• That safety shoes have a safety toecap to protect your toes from impact (falling objects) and compression (static force)? Safety toe caps are made of metal or a non-metallic material. Since these two materials have their own unique characteristics, there are also two separate safety regulations applicable to them.

A 2.0 to 2.5 cm space must be maintained under the toecap following impact and compression, depending on the size and type of toe cap. Two types (A & B) are defined depending on the structure of the shoe. The new standard defines a higher level of safety to ensure greater resistance against impact and compression.

Our DASSY® shoes provide the highest level of protection offered in the market today, i.e. Type B. In the case of Type B, the available space after impact may be 1 cm less than before.

You are now up to date with everything! Do you have any questions about the new shoes, or the stock out of certain models? If so, please feel free to contact us at [email protected]. We’ll be happy to help you.
