At DASSY®, we’re fully committed to doing business sustainably, taking account of both people and the environment. We systematically include ecological, social and economic considerations in the way we run our business, with an ESG (environmental, social and governance) strategy in which the end customer’s personal safety is the foremost goal.

We’ve opted to adhere to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) in order to gain official certification for our efforts to ensure a more sustainable future. This internationally recognised label guarantees, among other things, that the products that carry it are made with at least 50% recycled textile fibres. Within our D-FX Flex Next selection there are several models that meet this standard. This is the first time that we’ve offered GRS-certified models, so it’s an important step towards a more sustainable future for DASSY.

For the new D-FX Flex Next models, we’ve also taken the opportunity to apply our new branding consistently to all models, so you’ll immediately recognise our redesigned DASSY logo on all your favourite garments from now on.

The next phase in DASSY’s sustainability strategy

Cutting down on our CO2-eq emissions is an important part of our sustainability strategy. We’re contributing to this through several sustainable initiatives. One of these involves reducing greenhouse gas emissions during the production process of our workwear. DASSY takes its responsibility to combat climate change seriously, which is why on 27 June 2024 we officially signed a ‘Science Based Targets initiative’ (SBTi) commitment letter setting out our intention of cutting our emissions.

SBTi is a global organisation that offers companies guidance on reducing their CO2-eq emissions in line with the Paris Agreement. It provides clear guidance on how we can align our carbon reduction strategy with global climate goals and report our sustainability efforts more robustly and transparently.

How we’re reducing our ecological footprint

To understand how we can reduce our ecological footprint, it’s important to know that there are three types of emission. Each type falls within its own scope: direct emissions (Scope 1), indirect emissions through energy consumption (Scope 2) and indirect emissions by external suppliers (Scope 3).

A recent calculation shows that no less than 95.4% of our total CO2-eq emissions are in Scope 3. 87% of these emissions are related to the purchase of goods and services. The purchase of cotton or polyester to manufacture our workwear accounts for a large part of this.

Research has shown that recycling and reusing these materials require significantly less energy, water and chemicals than the production of new fibres. To reduce our Scope 3 emissions, we therefore need to focus actively on recycled materials. This is why we’re launching 23 D-FX Flex Next models with recycled content.

Well-thought-out eco-design for a sustainable future

During the eco-design process, we’ve developed each garment with care and made well-considered choices for all components. Where possible, besides recycled fabrics we’ve also used other recycled components such as YKK Natulon zippers and COATS EcoVerde yarn. In this way, we’re able to meet the requirements of the GRS label and guarantee that at least 50% of the main fabric consists of recycled materials.

What’s more, with their meticulous design, styling and contemporary colour palette, the new D-FX Flex Next models can be combined even better with other DASSY collections. Our mix & match principle ensures that it’s easy to combine endlessly – another sustainable feature. Designing workwear with recycled materials, and ensuring that it can be recycled again at the end of its life: that’s what we’re committed to at DASSY. We’re constantly innovating and adjusting our development processes to produce clothing that’s as sustainable as possible.
