Logflow & Dassy win Logistics Project of the Year 2022

Advanced degree of automation and construction of the new semi-automatic warehouse. The hard work that went into the Logflow & Dassy project has not gone unnoticed, as was clear when it was recognised with the ‘Logistics Project of the Year 2022’ at the Transport & Logistics Awards earlier this year.

The challenge

The Dassy story started back in 2007. Since then our dealer network has grown and now sells our collections of professional workwear in more than 27 countries. Stefaan Le Clair: “Compared to our competitors we are a relatively young brand, but in this short time we have built a strong reputation. These days, we manage 800,000 items in our own warehouse, allowing us to get new models and collections to market faster.

The desire to grow is one thing. But, you need to have the right things in place to enable it to happen. That’s why we took the decision at the end of 2020 to build a brand-new warehouse, of which 2,000 m² would be fully automated. To help us make our plans for the warehouse a reality, we brought in logistics consultancy Logflow.

Logflow, a team of engineers with offices in Oostkamp and Zandhoven, understands every aspect of how warehouses work, and offered us solutions founded in practice. “We are driven by a passion for logistics”, explains Vandenbussche. “Standing still means going backwards. That’s what makes an innovative project like Dassy’s so inspiring.”

Collaboration with the right partners delivers success

Le Clair: “We reached our investment decision after careful thought and consideration, and it was made with a view to further growth and the overriding aim of improving our service for our customers. We wanted to be able to manage our goods flow and deliveries better. These days, that’s critical to success, because the international supply chain is under pressure, which means we need to keep the position of our stocks under constant review. This investment will enable us to respond effectively to the requirements of the professional market.”

The new warehouse now employs a box shuttle system. This is an electrically powered storage system in a specially designed rack, which was proposed by Logflow. “To implement a project on this scale, getting expert advice is essential. Logflow helped us reach the right decisions, considering the aims we had in mind for Dassy.”

Vandenbussche of Logflow adds: “The main thing we have learned from this whole process is that collaborating with the right partners delivers the best results. And those results are clear for all to see: Dassy now has a state-of-the-art, futureproof and scalable distribution centre”. According to Le Clair, the new system is already bearing fruit: “The worldwide supply chain has been severely disrupted since the Covid-19 pandemic and competition is tough, to say the least. Despite this, we have been able to grow our market share again thanks to this investment in automation and digitisation.

No better recognition

„“The fact that, as a relatively young company, we have been recognised with the Logistics Project of the Year Award makes everyone here at Dassy tremendously proud. Being lauded by the top players in the transport world is not something that happens every day. There could be no better recognition for what we have achieved here, believes CEO Stefaan Le Clair of Dassy.
